The engineering that decides it
Bandwidth: Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth
Bluetooth LE moves roughly a megabit per second in practice — fine for photos, not for live video at badge resolution. The preview runs over a Wi-Fi peer-to-peer link; Bluetooth handles pairing and the shutter.
Keeping the phone online
A screen that makes the phone join its hotspot takes the phone off the internet. The link is designed so the phone keeps its own connection while previewing.
The system camera, not ours
Users want their phone’s night mode and telephoto. Screen mirroring plus a standard shutter signal lets the badge drive the phone’s own camera on iPhone and Android.
Latency and battery
Live video is the most power-hungry thing a badge does. Encoding, frame rate and radio duty cycle are tuned together against a sub-150 ms latency target.

Does it work with iPhone?
That is the point of the design. Phone-maker screens pair only with their own handsets; ours targets iPhone and Android from the start.
What is the minimum order?
300 units for BO-A1 under your brand; a custom housing or ring-light version is quoted per project.
Is it MagSafe certified?
It is designed to be MagSafe-compatible — it attaches to MagSafe phones and cases — but it is not an Apple-certified MagSafe product. Android phones use the included magnetic ring.
Can it record video, not just photos?
Yes — the shutter starts and stops video in the phone’s camera the same way it takes a photo.
